Planning is important. What do you want to achieve and how are you going to achieve it?

Check out what your competitors are doing. What they do affects your business. Find out about their products and prices and work out how to beat them.

Talk to your customers. Find out what they like and what they don't like. Tailor what you do to what they want.

Measure your success (or failure). If you advertise, attend shows or hand out leaflets, work out what benefits you get back and decide whether or not to do it again.
